MBBS Admission Notice Session: 2013-2012

Applications are invited in the prescribed format from candidates belonging to the North Eastern States including Sikkim for filling up the 18 seats- North East Open Category for admission to MBBS course at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, Shillong (affiliated to North Eastern Hill University, Shillong) Commencing on 01/08/2013.

The Prospectus-cum-application form can be obtained in the following manner:

By Person: The prospectus-cum-application form can be obtained personally from NEIGRIHMS Counter, Ground Floor, Director's Block from 8-3-2013 to 8-4-2013 (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), against a demand draft/banker cheque of Rs 600/- in favour of "Director, NEIGRIHMS" payable at Shillong from Monday to Friday except central government holidays. The NEIGRIHMS counter is situate in the ground floor of the Director's Block. 

By Post: Prospectus cum application form can also be obtained by sending a written request to the in-charge Examination Cell, NEIGRIHMS, Director's Block, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong-793018 enclosed with a demand draft/Banker Cheque of Rs 650/- Candidates should enclose unstamped self addressed envelope of size 30cm X 15cm or above. The Demand Draft/Banker Cheque should be made in favour of "Director, NEIGRIHMS", payable at Shillong and should be valid for approximately six months from the date which NEIGRIHMS received. The envelope should be super scribed in capital letters as "REQUEST FOR APPLICATION FORM FOR MBBS ENTRANCE EXAMINATIN 2013". The address at which Application Form is required should be written clearly in capital letters. NEIGRIHMS shall not be responsible for illegible or incomplete address given in the request letter for application form or postal delay or non-receipt of application form.

From Website: Prospectus cum application form can also be downloaded from the Institute website www.neigrihms.nic.in/ and the application form number will be given by NEIGRIHMS once the application form is received and processed. All downloaded forms must be submitted along with the demand draft/banker’s cheque (Rs 600/-) in original.

Important: Money order/personal Cheque/Postal Order/Cash payment will not be accepted. Only application forms obtained from the Institute or downloaded from the Institute website shall be considered valid. Forms obtained from an unauthorized source will be rejected. Forms from prospectus should not be photocopied. Eligibility Conditions, Prescribed Format, Instructions for filling up the format, Documents required and Application Fee etc, are provided in the prospectus.

The Entrance Examination is being held for 18(Eighteen) North-East Open Seats.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :

• The Applicant should be a Resident Indian National and belong to the 8 states of North Eastern Region of India including Sikkim.
• The Applicant should have studied and completed their course in the schools located in India in the  preceding two years.
• He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2013, the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S.
• The applicant should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below:
  
  a. The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a  period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and with English at a level not less than the core  course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.
  
  b. The applicant must have passed in the subjects of  Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Botany and Zoology) and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology at the qualifying examination.

The course will commence with effect from the 01/08/2013 (Monday) for the current academic year 2013-2012.

THE  APPLICATION PROCEDURE – HOW TO OBTAIN?
i. The Prospectus with the Application Form can be obtained against submission of Demand Draft of Rs. 600/- by hand and 650/- by post. The Demand Draft is to be made in the name of “Director, NEIGRIHMS” payable at Shillong.  This includes cost of Prospectus as well as Non-Refundable Examination Fee.  Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
ii. The application form can also be downloaded from the  website. The candidates submitting downloaded application forms will have to submit a demand draft of Rs. 600/- along with the application form.  KINDLY NOTE THAT THE DOWNLOADED FORMS WILL NOT HAVE AN APPLICATION NUMBER AND THIS WILL BE ALLOTED BY NEIGRIHMS ONCE YOUR APPLICATION FORM IS RECEIVED AND PROCESSED.  Downloaded application forms without the enclosed demand draft will stand rejected and no further communication in this regard will be entertained.
