Q1. What is the eligibility criteria?
Ans. A candidate should have passed Intermediate / 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together;
(i) For MBBS/BDS/BAMS – a minimum of 50% marks for General and 45% for General-PC candidates and 40% marks for OBC*/SC/ST and respective PC candidates;
(ii) For B.Pharm. – a minimum of 60% marks for General / OBC and respective PC candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.
Q2. What is the reservation criteria for seats?
Ans. BHU 2011 distribution of seats: M.B.B.S.(84 seats) : General - 42; OBC* – 23; SC – 13 and ST – 6;
BDS (38 seats): General – 19; OBC* – 10; SC – 6 and ST – 3;
BAMS (78 seats) : General – 36; Foreign National – 3; OBC* – 21; SC – 12 and ST – 6;
B.Pharm. (33 seats): General – 17; OBC* – 9; SC – 5 and ST – 2. Three percent seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (PC) candidates on horizontal basis in the above courses.
Q3. What is the age limit for BHU?
Ans. A candidate should have completed 17 years but not crossed 25 years as on 31st December, 2011 (Candidates born after 1st January, 1995 and on or before 31st December, 1986 need not apply).
Q4.What is the cost of application form?
Ans. Application Form can be obtained:
(a) By cash: Rs. 1200/- for GEN/OBC and Rs. 800/- for SC/ST candidates from the following branches of Bank of Baroda.
From the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request through Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) of Rs. 1300/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 900 for SC/ST candidates of a Nationalized Bank
Q4. In whose favour is the DD to be issued?
Ans. The DD should be drawn in favour of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi.
Q5. What are the application dates?
Ans. The application dates are from 03.01.2011 to 28.02.2011.
Q6. When is the entrance exam?
Ans. The screening is on: 8th May 2011 and the mains are on: 12th June 2011
Q7. Where are the test centers located?
Ans. The BHU PMT pat screening entrance would be held at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad centers. The BHU PMT-2011 main examination for MBBS course will be held on Sunday, the 12th June 2011 at Varanasi Centre.
Q8. Where are the application forms to be sent?
Ans. The application forms are to be sent to THE DIRECTOR (PMT CELL), INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, VARANASI-221 005
Q9. Is it a state level exam or an All-India level exam?
Ans. It is an All-India level exam.
