GCET 2011 FAQS

Q1. What is the eligibility criteria?

Ans. The eligibility criteria is as follows:

The candidate must pass 10+2 examination of Goa Board of Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent examination from a recognized board, with a minimum of 50% marks in Biology, Physics and Chemistry in aggregate, along with English in a single attempt. In case of SC/ST and OBC candidates, minimum of 40% marks is sufficient.

Q2. What is the criteria for reservation of seats?

Ans. The reservation of seats is as follows:

  • Total number of seats for MBBS-100 / BDS-40
  • For Goa students seats for MBBS/BDS : 85/34 seats reserved ( Based on GCET 2011 score )
  • For other states students seats for MBBS/BDS : 15/6 seats reserved ( Based on GCET 2011 score )
  • 50% - ( SC/ST/OBC) , 33% -( Women ) , 16.66% -( PH )

Q3. When is the application procedure starting?

Ans. The application procedure starts on 14th of March

Q4. What is the last date for the sale of the application forms?

Ans. The last date for the sale of the application forms is 8th April 2011

Q5. When will receipt of application forms start?

Ans. The receipt of application forms will start from 28th March

Q6. When is the entrance exam?

Ans. The entrance exam will be held on 11th and 12th May 2011

Q7. What will be the question paper pattern like?

Ans. Question paper shall be of objective, multiple-choice  type containing 75 questions of 1 mark each, with no negative marking

Q8. What will be the syllabus for the exam?

Ans. GCET-2011 shall be based on syllabus prescribed by Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Porvorim for Std. XII th examination of March, 2011 in following subjects:

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/Computer Science

Q9. Is there any provision for lateral entry?

Ans. Yes, lateral entry is there

Q10. Is it a state level exam or an All-India level exam?

Ans. It is a state level exam
