Admission criteria
Admission to the first year of the B.D.S degree course at the Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad for 34 seats will be on inter-se merit of the candidates (children of serving regular army personnel and regular army pensioners and war widows) in the combined written admission test (C-WAT) conducted by ACDS for 2011 -2012. Remaining 6 seats will be filled by Govt of A.P. through EAMCET. Candidates will be initially granted PROVISIONAL admission, which will be considered final on acceptance of eligibility by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, A.P. The college management reserves its right to deny the admission to any student in the event the admission is found to be irregular or violating any rules and/or regulations framed
under any statute or statutes.
Eligibility criteria
Eligibility For Admission To AWES Professional Colleges -. The admission to ACDS is for the children of eligible serving Army Personnel, eligible ex Army personnel and war widows of the Army. The children of following categories of Army personnel are eligible and they are required to submit the relevant certificate as given against the category applicable to them as proof of their eligibility for admission to ACDS alongwith the Application form :-
- The applicants must fall into one of the following categories : -
(i) Children of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army (Submit Certificate No 1).
(ii) Children of ex Army personnel granted/awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded and granted disability pension (Submit Certificate No 1).
(iii) Children of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge or released after ten years of service (Submit Certificate No 1). - Adopted/Step children and children of Remarried Widows
(i) Adopted Child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission. (Submit Certificate No .2).
(ii) Step Children are eligible provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army who is other wise eligible. (Submit Certificate No.2) - Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases
(i) Eligibility Criteria for wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers/Army Dental Corps Officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force(IN/IAF). Wards of only those ex Army medical officers/Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for at least 10 years (Submit Certificate No.3).
(ii) Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS/MNS/TA Personnel (Submit Certificate No.3)
(aa) Children of APS Personnel classified as ex servicemen as per Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88D (Res) dated 19 Jul 1989.
(ab) Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
(ac) Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army.
(ad) Children of only those members of MNS who have10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
(ae) Children of only those TA Personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.
Note:
- The management reserves the right to include any other eligibility criteria from time to time in addition to the above.
- The Pre-University certificates issued by Janardhan Rai Nagar, Rajasthan
- Vidyapeeth (Deemed) University, Rajasthan state is not valid.
- Student who fails to clear I BDS Exams in three years will automatically forego his/her seat/admission to BDS. He/She will has to pay up all five years fees to be given clearance
- Mid course withdrawal will be permitted only after payment of full five years of tution fee, Miscellaneous fee and hostel fee.
Age.
The candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete this age on 31st December of the year of his admission. Candidate should have passed the two years Intermediate or equivalent course thereof, with science subjects Viz., physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botony and Zoology) securing a minimum of 50% from a recognized Indian Intermediate Board or University. Candidate possessing qualification of a University/Intermediate Board out side the state should produce the certificate of equivalence from the Registrar, Dr NTR University of Health Sciences.
Physical Fitness.
The candidate should be certified by MH/Authorized Medical Doctor to be in a state of good physical and mental health to pursue the course. A certificate to this effect on the enclosed form (Certificate No 4) is required to be submitted by the candidate.
Educational Qualifications.
No candidate shall be allowed to be admitted to the Dental Curriculum of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course until he/she has passed qualifying examination as under:-
- The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistr y, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on education;
- The Intermediate examination in science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject.
- The pre-professional/pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination, or the pre university or an equivalent examination. The pre-professional/premedical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as a compulsory subject.
- The first year of the three years degree course of a recognized university with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in three subjects provided the examination is a "university examination" and candidate has passed 10+2 with English at a level not less than a core course.
- B.Sc examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc examination with not less than two of the following subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the following subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
- Any other examination which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these subjects and English.
Mode of Selection for admission
The admission will be strictly on merit ranking, based on marks obtained in C-WAT. The merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance test. The decision of ACDS management regarding the preparation of merit list will be final and no arbitration in this matter will be accepted. In case of vacant seats due to certain candidates declining to join/not joining on due date, the vacancy so created will be offered to the candidate next in merit and so on. Six seats will be filled from merit candidates who have undertaken EAMCET 2011 of Andhra Pradesh State. This allotment shall be done by the Govt of A.P. or its authorized agency.
Combined written admission test (C-WAT)
The entrance test for ACDS will be held as Combined Written Admission Test (C-WAT). The paper will be of 2 hours duration containing 3 subjects. Students will apply direct to ACDS in application forms provided with the prospectus of the College. Admit cards will be issued to students by ACDS. 23. Date and Centres of C-WAT

Filling up of application form:
- Application Form is enclosed in the envelope. Candidate must affix adequate postage for Registration charges failing which Admit cards will be dispatched by normal post only. Incomplete or Improperly filled applications are likely to be rejected. Application forms duly completed in all respects alongwith documents must reach Principal ACDS, Secunderabad within the dates specified below :-
(a) Without late fee on or before - 15 Mar 2011.
(b) With late fee of Rs 300/- in favour - on or before 30 Mar 2011. of ACDS payable at Secunderabad A.P. (enclose DD for Rs 300/-) - Application number must be quoted in all future correspondence. The name on the application form should be the same as mentioned in Matriculation or 10+2 certificates
- Candidates should fill in the application form very carefully. If the candidate knowingly furnishes false information, admission will be cancelled at any stage and fees paid will not be refunded. College is not responsible for rejection of applications wrongly filled/ documents ound missing. Applications without photographs will not be entertained.
- Late Receipt and Caution on Courier Service. ACDS will not accept application forms received later than 15 Mar 2011 without late fee. Condoning delay on account of postal strikes/lapses by courier services will not be done. It has been experienced that courier services are NOT always effective in ensuring timely deliveries at ACDS. These must therefore be utilised only at the applicants' own risk.
Note :- Completed application forms should be preferably sent by Registered with A/D or speed post as private courier services are not effective in ensuring timely delivery at ACDS.
