AIPMT 2011 (All India Pre-Medical Test 2011)

About AIPMT:

The All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) is a yearly college entrance examination in India. The exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in several medical colleges around the country. Presently, 15% of the total seats in all medical and dental colleges run by the Union of India, state governments, municipal, or other local authorities in India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, are reserved for candidates who qualify this examination. Recently reservation for SC,ST and OBC have been undertaken in AIPMT 2011.

AIPMT 2011 consists of exam at two levels. AIPMT 2011First is preliminary conducted usually on 1st Sunday of the April month. AIPMT 2011 The second is mains conducted in the month of May. It is the most awaited and respected exam of the pre-medical exams. AIPMT 2011 is equivalent to All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE 2011), which is also conducted by CBSE for entrance to engineering colleges in India.

The pattern of AIPMT 2011 is being changed with effect from 2010.Due to complaints about the unreliability of the subjective mains, the mains are to be made completely objective like the prelims. More difficult and application-level questions can be expected. Assertion-reason questions may be included as in AIIMS 2011. OBC reservation is being implemented as per the questionable directives of the government, but only in central institutes(i.e. not in most of the colleges covered under AIPMT).About 1900 MBBS and 250 odd dental seats are available through AIPMT 2011 but ranks up to 3200 can reasonably hope for selection due to overlap with other entrances. In both the prelims and the mains NCERT books are used to prepare questions (almost 60% in biology).

Date of AIPMT 2011:

1.Preliminary Examination -3rd April, 2011(Sunday)

2.Final Examination -15th May,2011(Sunday)

RESERVATION

Reservation will be made as per following details in 15% All India quota:

(i) 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates,
(ii) 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates,
(iii) 27% seats are reserved for non-creamy layer OBC
candidates in Central Educational Institutions only as per Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 10.04.2008. Reservation would be applicable to the castes mentioned in the Central list of OBC. Thus, the candidates falling in this list may mention OBC inthe Categary Column in application form.Candidates from creamy layer and do not come under Central List are advised to mention their category as General.
(iv) 3% seats are reserved on horizantal basis for PH candidates.

Submission of Application Form with late fee

Candidates who wish to fill the application form for AIPMT 2011 Examination after the last date is over, such candidates can submit the application form only on-line from 10.01.2011 to 17.01.2011 with late fee of Rs.500/- only. Therefore, the fee for General/OBC candidates would be Rs.1200/- (Rs.700/- + Rs.500/-) and for SC/ST candidates the fee would be Rs.850/- (Rs.350/- + Rs.500/-). However, Computer Generated Confirmation Page in all respect as applicable for on-line submission must reach to the CBSE on or before 24.01.2011. The rest of the procedure for submitting and sending the application form would be similar to the on-line submission of application form.
