- The JCECE entrance test is held in two stages, preliminary and final examination. The entrance test paper comprises of objective type multiple choice questions. It consists of single paper, which is divided into four parts - Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- All parts carry equal weightage. Based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the preliminary examination, a separate list of the engineering and medical candidates is prepared after evaluation. Candidates who successfully qualify the preliminary examination are eligible to appear in the final examination.
- The final examination is held in a different date. The candidates appear for the combination of subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates aspiring for the medical field appear for a combination of subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology. There is also the system of negative marking for wrong answers attempted by a candidate
