Single MBBS CET opposed by Karnataka Government

In a U-turn, the Karnataka government on Tuesday decided to oppose a single CET for MBBS courses conducted by the Medical Council of India this year.

The state will now write to the Centre saying that the exam is being thrust upon them without addressing the concerns raised by it with respect to protecting the interest of state tudents.

"The decision of the Centre has been unilateral. We have asked several questions with regard to reservation which have not been clarified by the Centre. We will go ahead with our own CET this year," higher education minister V S Acharya told TOI after a meeting with the private professional colleges here to discuss the fee structure and seat-sharing ratio under government quota for next year
